Director A.M. Fazil has various roles to his credit, including filmmaker, screenwriter and producer. Though his father dreamt of his son to become a doctor, Fazil was mainly interested in extracurricular activities during schooling. He did a post-graduation in Economics.

Also, Nagma and Khushboo were introduced to the south audience by Fazil.

Fazil is one of the best directors during the 80s and 90s of Malayalam film industry. His first film proved that, he is a director who can be relied on in Mollywood. His film Manichitrathazhu was one film, which established him as a mega director. This film won Shobana the prestigious National award. This excellent movie was remade in many southern languages. Some of his good films include, Manichitrathazhu, Aniyathi Pravu, Ente Mammaate Kuttiammakku, Harikrishnans, Varsham Pathinaru, Kilipecchu Kekka Vaa, Life is Beautiful etc. He has proved his mettle in the film industry and has shown that, he is a talented director.
