Shankar Ramakrishnan is a Mollywood actor and director who has excelled even as a screenwriter in many Malayalam movies. Shankar made his debut in his career by directing a film ’Kerala Café’ which was directed by a team of ten directors including Revathy,
Shaji Kailas, etc. This was the first package or anthology film that consisted of several short films tied together by a single theme or interlocking events, and different directors contributed to making this as a feature film ‘Kerala Café’. Shankar took in-charge of directing ‘Island Express’ for the Malayalam anthology film, ‘Kerala Café.' Thus, he began his career.
Later, he wrote a script for a 2011 epic film ‘Urumi’ which was directed and filmed by
Santosh Sivan. The film was a high-budget movie in Mollywood and was a commercial success at the box-office. The film was dubbed into Tamil and Telugu too. Later, he tried his role as an actor in the film ‘
Spirit’ (2012) which had Mohanlal, Madhu in lead roles. The film was directed by Ranjith. In the same year, he featured as an actor in another movie ‘
Poppins’ which was directed by V. K. Prakash. The film had ten leading actors who played five couples. Shankar Ramakrishnan and Mythili essayed the role of one couple while other actors essayed different couples’ character in the movie. Another film ‘Bavuttiyude Namathil‘ featuring Mammootty, Kavya Madhavan and Shankar Ramakrishnan released in the same year and it was a successful movie in the box office. The film was produced by Ranjith and directed by G. S. Vijayan.
In 2013, Shankar Ramakrishnan wrote the script for movie ‘Natholi Oru Cheriya Meen Alla', It was a comedy movie and directed by V.K. Prakash. The film was an unusual one for its unadulterated laughter. In the same year, for a movie ‘Silence’, he appeared as school bus driver in a small role. In 2014 , there was another movie ’How Old Are You’, in which he appeared as a minister. In 2015, the actor appeared in two movies ‘Nirnaayakam’ which featured
Nedumudi Venu in lead roles and ‘Love 24x7’ which had Dileep and debutante
Nikhila Vimal in lead roles.
Shankar Ramakrishnan was born on April 13, 1966, in Mallankinaru (Kerala). He is married to Chandra Prabha Ramakrishnan and has two children Akash Ramakrishnan and Hari Ramakrishnan.
