Suma Josson is a filmmaker and Indian-American journalist. She is well-known for her documentary films like You are still alive, Niyamgir, etc. which has won the first prize in short film in the category of Environment at International Film Festival of India held in the year 2010. She was born in Kerala which is a state in India. She has completed her degree of graduation from the University of Minnesota situated in the United States in English Literature. At Press Trust of India, she began her career. In the year 1992, she switched over to Visual Media. She has also written three books named A Harvest of Light which is a collection of plays, Circumferences which is a novel, and Poems and Plays.

Her debut film name was “Janmadhinam” which was much appreciated by audiences and has also won many Awards. It was also screened and played at various International Film Festivals. Her second film name was “Saree.” Her debut film named “Janmadhinam” released in the year 1998 was a Malayalam movie. He pred >> Read More... was the Cinematographer of the film, and the music was given by Narayana Mani. Her second movie named “Saree” was released in the year 1999 and was a Malayalam movie. It was about two young children named Radha and Gita who were confused between two worlds of home and school. This film was much appreciated by the audiences, and also got selected at Berlin Festival held in the year 1999. At the Mumbai International Film Festival, it was the inaugural film. This film was directed by Suma Josson starring Sreelatha, Krishna, Remya, Priyanka, etc. M.J. Radhakrishnan and K.G. Jayan were the cinematographers of the film, and editing of the film was done by Bina. Music was given by Chandran Veyattumal. She has made many documentaries.

One of the most popular documentaries Gujarat: A Laboratory of Hindu Rastra which was released in the year 2003, was a 50 min long documentary. It unleashes the violence in Gujarat during February in the year 2002. It explains how the fascist ideologies of Communal forces have affected the ordinary Gujarati Hindu.
