Roopika is a South Indian actress. Her debut film was the Kannada flick Cheluvina Chilipilli. The director who gave her this break was S. Narayan. It was a romance film in which she starred against Pankaj, who was her love interest. The movie came to the commercial market in 2009. Even though it has been about eight years in the industry, Roopika is yet to find a strong foothold for herself in Sandalwood.

Roopika has even given quite a few performances as a child artist. This experience has helped her hone her acting skills right from an early age. The exposure to the glitz and glamor of acting from childhood makes her a mature actor in adulthood. Thus, in Cheluvina Chilipilli, her acting got immense recognition and accolades. The audience hailed her as a versatile performer who can fit in all roles. Her following flick Gharshane turned out to be a flop film.

Roopika is an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer. She is currently preparing for her graduation. She is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Commerce. After a little period of a slog, Roopika decided to try her hand at an art movie. The name of this flick is Engalaya Marga. In Gandhijiya Kanasu, she essays the role of a Government personnel trying to help in the welfare of people. She feels that her background in Theater and Performance Arts was immensely helpful in the portrayal of her characters. Also, it is the same upbringing that pushed her towards art films. It may be a wise decision considering that she tanked in major commercial films. Even then, she hopes to sign a commercial flick soon. Her other movie was Beera. Since her entry into the film industry, Roopika gained constant criticism for her weight and her chubbiness.

The ruthless industry often pointed out her being over-weight. Instead of feeling ashamed or being hurt by such remarks, Roopika took the bull by its horns. She joined a gymnasium and started working out extensively. Through exercise and a strictly followed diet, she managed to lose nearly 10 kilograms weight in the duration of three months. Her weight transition shut the critics down. It speaks volumes about her integrity and her will to persist in the field of entertainment.

Apart from acting, she is also interested in social causes. Roopika was the first Sandalwood actor to find an association with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. After the hectic shoot in Mysore for Haadi Beedi Love Story, she took the time out and cleaned Kathayamaranhalli region. Everyone supported her in this venture. Haadi Beedi Love Story is the first movie after her dramatic weight loss.
