Aparna Kurup

Aparna Karup is the assistant news editor as well as the prime time anchor for the Kerala news channel by the name news18. She began working for the channel in March in 2017 and is a part of the company ever since that time. She lives in Thiruvananthapuram in the state of Kerala, where her office is located.

Apart from her work in News 18, Aparna was the Chief Broadcast journalist as well as the producer for a company by the name The Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Company Ltd. She joined the company in the year 2012 and continues to work there since the last 6 – 7 years. Before this position, she was the Chief Sub Editor as well as a news presenter and a show anchor in the channel.

She used to manage the daily bulletin run downs. She was responsible for the writing, editing and finalizing the headlines for the articles and bulletin news to be aired on the channel. She coordinated with various bureaus and produced news bulletins. She was one of the leading anchors in the company and one of the most known faces seen on the channel and presented major shows and news segments.

She produces as well as hosted the weekly talk show that aired on the channel and dealt with the current events and happenings of the week that required extra attention apart from the regular coverage given during the daily news. She produced many programs and shows and also interviewed some of the country’s most important leader, politicians, veterans and other top personalities, on various occasions or events. She also did many on-field reporting jobs for the channel at various times.

Before this post, Aparna was the News Editor as well as the prime time anchor in New 18 Kerala. Aparna completed a post graduate degree in the field of International Media and Corporate communication from a university in New Zealand and pursued an undergraduate degree in mass communication from madras university.

She worked with the biggest media companies in south India which include Mathrubhumi News, Asianet, and many others. She worked as the chief sub-editor for Mathrubhumi for six years from April 2012 in Cochin Area. She was the senior sub-editor for the company called Asianet News Network Pvt. Ltd.

Starting in August in the year 2005 to March in the year 2012. She worked for their office in Thiruvananthapuram for six years and eight months. And was in charge of editing and improvisation of the daily news segments, and putting out headlines. She also got selected to be one among the 100 women of the Kerala youth chosen by the weekly by the name Samakalika Malayalam.
