He was a really bright student in his school days. He used to score the highest grades in his school. Apart from academics, Arun Gopan was also good in extra curriculums. He used to be in the music club of his school. He took music lessons since his childhood.

He took part in many competitions held in school as well as in town. He completed his MBBS in Ayurvedic and was an Ayurvedic doctor before he became a singer. He got married to Nimmy Nair on 22 December, 2013, who herself, is a Television star. His wife belongs to Kanjangadu and she has done a post-graduate with MBA. She used to work as an HR Executive. Arun Gopan took a step to begin his career when he participated in Idea Star Singer 2007. He was the third runner-up in the competition. He gained a lot of fame and exposure from the show. After hearing his voice, he was asked to do playback singing by many film-makers.
