Bipin Chandran, also known as Bindran is a screenplay and dialogue writer from Kerala. His day job is that of a Malayalam teacher at Government Higher Secondary School, Edakunnam, Kottayam, near his hometown of Ponkunnam. Also a fabulous writer, he wrote the book “Mammootty: Kazhayum Vayanayum”, a collection of interviews, stories and essays which portray the greatness of superstar Mammootty as an acting stalwart of the Malayalam film industry. His other famous books are 'Kriyaathmaka Jeevithathilekku Pathu Chuvadukal' and 'Maayude Kathukal'. Their interest in theater brought them together, and they built a formidable theater team. Their group even represented M.G. University at the national level. Bipin went off to Maharaja’s College for post-graduation following the footsteps of Martin. It was at the place where he wrote his first story for Malayala Manorama’s Campus line in 1998. Being a prolific writer, Bipin wrote his first book “Mammootty: Kazhayum Vayanayum” which later came to be taught in film and cultural studies courses in the state of Kerala.

His second book, 'Kriyaathmaka Jeevithathilekku Pathu Chuvadukal', was a guide for how to live life and overcome the common problems faced every day. It was an excellent book which would equip a person to tackle everything that life threw at him. His third book 'Maayude Kathukal' is a compilation of letters written by Mandakini Narayanan to her daughter Ajitha, during the period 1972-1977, when Kerala was burning politically. Starring Mammootty, the movie was a hit, and his work was appreciated. His debut film as a script writer was the movie “Best Actor” (2010), and the movie was a super hit. It met with unanimously positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. The narrative style was hugely appreciated, and Bipin’s work was recognized in a huge way. 1983 (2014) was his second project as a scriptwriter and by far his best work. The film received three Kerala state film awards and was appreciated and loved by everyone. Both Best Actor and 1983 are two of Malayalam cinema’s biggest hits in the past few years. Even though he is highly successful as a screenplay writer, Bipin still writes dialogues for films as he considers dialogues to be as important as the script. He prefers writing his scripts and dialogues at home, as stated by him- “Solitude through pain is often a joy. It’s not virtual loneliness. I don’t mind sitting anywhere as long as nobody distracts my thought process. I prefer writing at home that's where I am the happiest.”
