Shanta Hublikar is a veteran Marathi and Hindi actress, known for working in films like Mera Ladka (1938), Maza Mulga (1938), and Aadmi (1939). She was born on April 14, 1914, in Adargunchi, Hubli. She had two sisters, Neelamma and Sharada. She was trained in classical music under Abdul Karim Khan Bio coming soon... >> Read More... , a music legend. When she was 15 years old, she joined the Gubbi Drama Company in Hubli, to escape from getting married.  After some years, she debuted on the silver screen by playing a minor role in the 1934 film Thaksen Rajoutra. Â
In the 1936 film Honhar, she played the role of a widow and acted as a character’s mother in the 1937 film Kanhopatra.  She got her big break in V. Shantaram’s 1937 film Gangavataran. In 1938, she was awarded by the Bengali Film Journalists Association for playing the role of a courtesan in V. Shantaram’s path-breaking film Aadmi. Â
As she knew Tamil, she acted in some Tamil films and later shifted to work in Hindi and Marathi films. Over the years, she worked in both Marathi and Kannada films like Pahila Palna (1942), Jeevan Natak (1943) and Kul Kalank (1945). On the personal front, she married Bapusaheb Geete, a Pune-based businessman, and had a son. In 1990, she published her autobiography Kashala Udyachi Baat Story soon >> Read More... and sadly passed away on July 17 1992 in Pune.Â
