Arti Kulkarni was born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She completed her schooling at B.P. Vidyalaya, Mumbai. She went to the University of Pune for further education. From a very young age, she was interested in wildlife and journalism. She is an environment journalist, documentary filmmaker, news anchor, and poet. She is also running a YouTube channel named Shekru. She is highly into photography and videography of wildlife and flora & fauna. She has worked at IBN Lokmat as a Deputy Feature Editor. Her motive to work as a filmmaker and writer was to spread awareness on concerns like wildlife and nature. She won the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for her campaign with a motive to protect the buffer zone of the Tadoba Tiger Reserve against illegal mining. She has worked in other campaigns such as thermal plants and chemical units that depleted the Konkan region and the inaccurate siting of windmills close to Bhimshankar Wildlife Sanctuary.

Moreover, her research reports helped to highlight the threat to flamingos and the value of the mudflats of Thane Creek to Mumbai. Arti is currently working on a campaign to protect western ghats from iron-ore mining. She has managed to raise awareness about the value of and the threat to the newly-declared Sahyadri Tiger Reserve, nearby forests in Maharashtra, and Goa's tiger forests. She is currently working at Time Maharashtra and News18 Lokmat. Arti Kulkarni was honored with the prestigious 'Sanctuary Asia' and ' Kirloskar Vasundhara Mitra' Award for practicing Eco Journalism. She is found very active on social media platforms like Facebook.
