Alka Kubal is a prominent Indian actress, who works predominately in the Hindi and Marathi film industry. She rose to fame with the 1991 Marathi film Maherchi Sadi, directed by Vijay Kondke. She was born on 23rd September 1965 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Alka Kubal is married to cinematographer Sameer Athalye, and they have two daughters named Ishani and Kasturi.

She made her debut in Hindi with the movie Chakra (1981) and made her entry into the Marathi industry with the film Lek Chalali Sasarla (1984). She became one of the popular actresses after the release of the film, Maherchi Sadi, where she portrayed the role of a middle-class married lady who faced embarrassments in the family. In the posters of the film, the makers announced that Alka is getting married at a hall near Dabar. It led to a large gathering outside the wedding ceremony.
