Sadashiv Amarapurkar (Sadashiv Dattaray Amarapurkar) is a versatile actor who had predominantly acted in Hindi and Marathi cinema. As a versatile performer, he even overcame the language barrier and acted in other Indian languages such as Bengali, Tamil, Oriya, Haryanvi, and Telugu even. 

He was often known for playing negative characters or even baddie or villain character in many films but never got typecast. With a super cinematic career of more than three decades, the actor was a multi-talented and unconventional person.

Sadashiv was born in Ahmednagar on May 11, 1950. Over the years, Sadashiv had gained the reputation of a respected and strong actor who did even cameo roles too in his career. He was one of the most sought-after actors in every movie that got released in the period of 1983 to 1999. Before getting a break in the movie, Sadashiv was entirely engaged in directing and even acting in theatre. He has done 50 stage shows and performed in 150 one-act plays in his career in Mumbai’s Indian National Theatre. Since he was a stage artiste, his intensity in performance was so high that he could infuse comedy in villain role (Ishq) and even portray a cop role with comedy sense. Besides acting in plays and movies, the actor took a keen interest as a philanthropist and social activist too. 

He joined the movement of Anna Hazare. His sudden demise for lung infection was great loss to the movie world and the void created by his death cannot be filled by anybody else. He passed away on November 3rd, 2014.
