Chandrakant Barve is a Writer, Director, and Screenplay writer who has mostly worked in Hindi and Marathi language films based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is a formerly retired Doordarshan Director. He completed his education at Savitribai Phule University, Mumbai, Maharashtra in 1974. For twelve years, between 1999 to 2011, Barve worked for Doordarshan channel as a Station Director and was mainly responsible for planning, management, and production of TV programs. In 2012, he started working as an Executive Director and Writer for DIPTI Films where he conceptualizes films and documentaries for Government, Public, and Private sectors.

Barve is popularly known for the Marathi movie Mareparyant Phaashi. It was a drama thriller that tells a story about two friends where one was a jailer, and the other one was an author of international repute on capital punishment. The author believes in the abolition of capital punishment but, the jailer thinks that a criminal must be punished and hanged. Later, the criminal is sentenced to death and the author loses all hope of saving him. So, the author decides to interview him to understand the mental condition of the murderer who is about to be hanged for murdering an innocent person.

He wishes to know the criminal’s emotional state of mind, whether he feels guilty or scared. The jailer friend organizes the interview for his friend, but the author gets stuck into a troubling nightmare-like situation in which he has to face death himself.
