However, it was her remarkable performance in the 2001 film Darpan Chhaya that truly catapulted her to fame. The movie later on was called the highest-grossing film in the history of Nepali cinema, earning widespread acclaim for Niruta's acting prowess. Born in Darjeeling, India, she later moved to Kathmandu to pursue her acting career. She entered the film industry through Dakshina in 1993, thanks to the support of Tulsi Ghimire, a close friend of her father.

Since then, her ties with the Ghimire camp have become stronger than ever and starred in several successful films, including Rahar. However, it was her role in Darpan Chhaya, also directed by Tulsi Ghimire that solidified her status as a leading actress. The film's tremendous success, grossing NRs 70 million in 2001, set a new benchmark for the Nepali film industry. Not only is Niruta a talented actress, but she is also a gifted singer. She recorded the title track for the NTV family drama series Vansha, directed by Deepak Raymajhi, and later contributed to a music album titled Deepshikha.

Despite taking a long break from acting and relocating to Mumbai due to her concerns about the changing landscape of the film industry, she recently made a comeback in Maha Jodi's 2019 film Dal Bhaat Tarkari. In recognition of her contributions, Niruta Singh was honored with the prestigious Prabal Jana Sewa Shree award, one of Nepal's highest civilian honors, by the country's president in April 2023. Throughout her career, Niruta has appeared in numerous films, including Darpan Chhaya, Mann Mandir, Bandhaki, Dui Kinara, Dukha, Kahan Bhetiyela, and many more. Her diverse filmography showcases her versatility and enduring popularity among audiences.
