Gopal Balaji

Gopal Balaji is a digital imaging technician who works predominately in the Tamil film industry. He is a digital cinema designer who works for the Indian cinemas. His noted works include Spanish masala, thanga meengal and idhu kathirvelan kadhal. Gopal Balaji was born on 18th December 1975 in Chennai. Commonly known as Balaji he did his graduation in computer applications and further did advance diploma in multimedia. Later on, he was also a participant of an ICA colorist course.

He started his career as an assistant film editor but after some time moved to VFX and digital cinema. Presently he works as a digital cinema designer, stereoscopic 3D specialist, compositor and online artist and colorist as well as handles various jobs of supervising films from shoot to final delivery in theatres. Balaji started his career professionally in the south Indian industry as a digital imaging technician in the year 2008 with margazhi raagam.

Directed by jayendra Pancha Pakesan, it is a musical movie based on the Carnatic music concert. This was followed by two other releases titled pokkisham and Thiru Thiru thuru thuru both in 2009. Balaji debuted for the first time as a digital cinema designer with the movie 1- nenokkadine of 2014 which was followed by five other releases in the same year. He worked in the camera department for quite a long period and did few more movies like Kathakali, vetrivel, brahmotsavam, idhu namma aalu, and the latest release naa nuvve. Working as a colorist, Balaji did several short films, films and documentaries such as on a quest, orange mittai, kuttrame thandanai, aandavan kattalai, disco obu, asuravadham, Diya, Kalki, lens, super deluxe and goli Sada ​2. Among which on a quest was the first and the only documentary release.
