This poet and lyricist-writer were born in a middle-class family where his mother was a school teacher, and his father worked as a spinning master in a textile mill in Coimbatore. The actor was born in Coimbatore on 20 October 1974 and did his MA Literature in Tamil from Annamalai University. Born in Kumbakonam, he was brought to Coimbatore and had a strong liking for writing poetry from his childhood. He is the only person in his family who got a chance to act or write a song in the cinema. Initially, he was trained in the cinema field for nearly four years. He has written more than 1,200 songs in his career spanning 19 years.
