Rathna Kumar R M is a budding film director in Kollywood who got noticed for his ability to direct an independent Tamil language anthology film “Bench Talkies-The First Bench'' which was part of a narrative of six short films and had an association of six different directors in making the whole movie.
Among the six directors, Rathna Kumar R M was able to direct only one short episode “Madhu” which had an assembled cast of
Sananth Reddy (as Kumar),
Vivek Prasanna (as Vinodh), Roshini Abraham (as Madhumitha), Vignesh (as Kishore), and
Deepak Paramesh (as Amit Krishnan).
This short film definitely touched the human journey through different genres, emotions, and experiences. The film narrated the actual incidents that we witness in the society when love breaks and how one jilted lover takes an extreme step to commit suicide and how the associate friends come forward to save the life of a jilted lover.
The film had limited screening across Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru. Only selected PVR cinema houses and Sathyam theatre in Chennai had screened the film. Due to lack of publicity, the film did not generate much interest amongst viewers but definitely scored well in the minds of critics.
In the year 2017, the director Rathna Kumar directed the movie "Meyaadha Maan" which has
Vaibhav Reddy and
Priya Bhavani Shankar in lead roles. The film was produced by Kaarthikeyen Santhanam and cinematography by Vidhu Ayanna. Stone Bench Creations has bankrolled the project.
