After a long and a strong attempt, he joined as an assistant to the veteran director Bharathi Raja. He worked with Bharathi Raja for three films. Then, he directed a short film called Pencil, which got awards internationally. He also directed a movie, Arumbu Meesai Kurumbu Paarvai with new faces. As this movie was full of new faces, the movie did not reach the public, says Vetri Mahalingam.
His latest hit was Vennila Veedu, which was a commercial success movie. At present, he has committed in directing a film with his own story. This film is a commercial movie that attracts the youngsters. He says that if the films are taken with perfection, then nothing could stop the success of the film.
