Avishek Karthik

Avishek Karthik is an Indian movie actor, who works mainly in the Tamil films industry. He is closely associated with director Gautham Menon Gautham Vasudev Menon is known for his directional >> Read More... , and worked previously as Gautham's assistant in the movies Pachaikili Muthucharam and Vaaranam Aayiram, before making an impact as an actor through the director's experimental thriller movie Nadunisi Naaygal.

Avishek joined Gautham’s directorial team in 2006. He worked with him during the production of the movie Pachaikili Muthucharam, before being signed as one of the four new male lead actors in a movie titled Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam directed by Gautham.

The movie, set in the scene of Chennai's IT industry, started its shoot in mid-2007 with Trisha in the leading cast but was later delayed and then eventually put on hold. Avishek then continued his work with Gautham as an assistant director and appeared in the supporting role of Mahesh, Surya's friend in Varanam Aayiram (2008).

Featured in the film as Deva, Kartik worked out and built his body to portray a cop convincingly. The movie opened to mixed reviews, with a critic from Rediff noting Deva, as the serious Assistant Commissioner of Police, does a great job, while Behindwoods critic wrote Deva who plays a cop has nothing much to do, but he does it exceptionally well.

The movie was later also dubbed and released in Telugu, with Avishek's link to actress Sridevi grabbing the movie further attention from the media. In mid-2014, he started to work on Kaathadi, which eventually had a delay in release in February 2018.
