Initially Vijay Babu was not interested in acting, but his friend motivated him to act in the cinema. Without getting the consent of his parents, Vijay Babu came to Chennai along with his friend to attend the interview. He was interviewed by popular director Balachander and Vijay Babu passed in the interview. After joining the course, he learnt everything perfectly for the whole two years.
