A film actress, Akshaya has been an integral part of the Tamil cinema. Her performance in the film Kalabha Kadhalan was commendable, and her performance was well appreciated. Engal Aasan was another film, which brought out her talent and acting skills.

She is the granddaughter of Chayya Devi, who is also an eminent personality in India. After the year 2012, she did not work much in films. Films like Manmadha Rajyam and Nakantu Okaru were started off but weren’t completed, although she has proven her talent widely in her previous films.

Akshaya is a Tamil Actress born on 22nd of August in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Chaya Devi, a famous character actress, is the Grandmother of Akshaya. Akshaya ventured into the Tamil Films in the year 2003 with the film named “Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi”. After that, she did a few more films like “Thullum Kaalam”, “Kalabhak Kadhalan”, “Pazhaniyappa Kalloori”, “Uliyin Osai”, “Gaja”, “Engal Aasan”, “Uyarthiru 420”, etc. She is most famous for her roles in “Kalabhak Kadhalan” as Kanmani and “Engal Aasan” as Viji.

After the year 2012, her career hit a setback when several of her films were left incomplete after starting. These movies were Manmadha Rajyam, Imbathukkum Aasai Varum, Thasaiyinai Thee Sudinum and Pattikattu Mapillai. Another  film that initiated, but never got completed was a Telugu film titled “Nakantu Okaru”.

In the year 2016, she did a Hindi film titled “Umformung: The Transformation”. The film deals with two parallel plots. The plot on one hand deals with a Buddhist Monk in search of Truth and the other deals with the life of a powerful, wealthy female builder and how one incident makes the female builder question the truth of life. The film has received the immense appreciation from  Indian as well as Global Platforms. It won the Best Concept award by ‘CIFF’ in 2014. The award for Best Director, Music, and Direction by ‘FSFF; in 2014. It also won the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award for the Best Music in 2015.

It also received the Best New comer Director and Merit of International films in Indonesia by World Film. It won, many other awards like Best Director, Best Original Music, Best Film award at Euro Film Festival; Filmmaker of the Year Silver Award for Best Newcomer Film; IFF of spirituality, religion and visionary also awarded the Best Filmmaker, Best Script, Best Story and Best Director awards of Spirituality in 2015. This film garnered a lot of appreciation and was even nominated at the 1st ever Khajuraho International Film Festival, Miami Independent Film Festival, Marvik Movie Awards and the 4th South Asian Film Festival. It was also in the official list of the Indian Cine Film Festival and Noida International Film Festival 2014 in various categories like Best Story, Best Director, Best DOP, Best Editing, Best Script, etc.
