Laila Mehdin is an Indian actress who entered the industry in the year 1996 with the movie” Dushman Duniya Ka” in Hindi. Next, she acted in three Telugu movies and finally became a successful Tamil film star. This Goan beauty stole the hearts of many with her dimples! They are so deep that they even appear when she talks or giggles. After putting in countless years of training and practice on ballet dance, she ultimately began to search a career in cinema. It was indeed a pity that she never used her ballet background in the world of cinema as she did not get chance to do so. She also mentioned having learnt ballet dance in Royal Academy of Dancing in London. Her charm and charisma, including her "next-door girl" image created a phenomenon in Kollywood. She ventured into films with Tamil film ‘Kallalaga’, the film turned out to be a commercial failure. But she was noticed by film producers and was cast in innumerable Tamil films. Her innocent smile made people crazy. 

In ‘Pithamagan’, she won the Filmfare best actress award. The film was a path-breaking trend-setting film and she was considered as a successful new comer and many felt that she's here to stay in Kollywood. She appeared in many critically acclaimed films such as Dhil, Nanda, Unnai which re-defined her position as the leading lady of the 2000’s. She was praised for her look and acting in these films. She had acted films with Vikram, Ajit and Prashant. Her role in ‘Ullam Ketkumae’ won her praises from masses even and she became a successful actress in Kollywood. In 2006, she tied her knot with an Irani businessman (Mehdin). She dated him for 8 years before marriage. 

Now she is blessed with two sons. She claims that she has no intention of returning to films in the near future. After ruling the silver screen for 10 long years, she retired from acting and wants to lead a life of domestic bliss.
