Sukanya is an actress, music composer, singer, Bharatnatyam dancer, and voice actor in South India. She has acted in all the South Indian industries: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. She was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Her debut movie was in Tamil cinema with 1991’s Pudhu Nellu Pudhu Naathu. Her other Tamil films include Thirumathi Palanisamy, Thambi Pondatti, Senthamizh Paattu, Ilavarasan, and Solaiyamma. She has also acted in 1993’s Thalattu, 1994’s
Mahanadi, 1996’s Puthiya Parasakthi, and 1997’s Thambi Durai. Her other films include 2000’s
Good Luck, 2001’s Krishna Krishna, 2002’s Sri Bannari Amman, 2006’s
Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, 2008’s Aayutham Seivom, and 2014’s Chandra. She has won the Tamil Nadu State Award for Best Actress.

Sukanya's contribution to Telugu cinema consists of 1992’s Peddarikam and Amma Koduku, 1994’s Captain, 2005’s Sri, 2007’s Munna, 2012’s Adhinayakudu, and 2015’s Srimanthudu. Sukanya’s Kannada movies include 1992’s Guru Brahma and 2013’s Chandra.
Sukanya has also appeared on television shows such as Asianet’s Swaami Ayyappan, Sun TV’s
Anandham, Raj TV’s Adhiparasakthi, and Jannal. She had a recent release with 2016’s
Size Zero and had an upcoming release with Kaan, which is due to release in March.
