G Venket Ram

G Venket Ram is one of India’s leading advertising photographer who shot more that eighty movies. He was among the top ten photographers of the Better Photography magazine of 2005. Venket Ram comes from a conservative middle-class family where he was always taught to join medical or engineering, search for a good joy and settle down.

Venket Ram studied till his tenth standard at the St Maris High Secondary school. Afterward, he completed his 11th and 12th are the Gill Adarsh Higher Secondary School in the science and math’s field. As a kid of above average intelligence, he was always focused to study medical or engineering. Venkat Ram then joined a private institution in Maharashtra to study Production Engineering. But even if his focus was to be an engineer his heart was always outside of the class. He was stricken with the effects of the sunlight, or the sugarcane fields surrounding the campus. He lost his focus and gained two arrears. Having to repeat a year, he went back to his hometown, Chennai and realized that engineering was not his passion.

Even if his parents were forcing him to go back to engineering, he resisted. Luckily, college of Loyola started a course called visual communication. Even if his parents were reluctant, they supported him. But being a very new subject matter in Indian Universities and not an advance field, his class was full of students who only joined as they did not know what to do. Venket Ram realized that only have a degree in hand will not help him. Therefore he started to look for part-time jobs as a photographer. He worked for two years while attending college. In college, Venket Ram joined the advertising agency, and this gave the opportunity to meet some clients and understand the demands of the reality world.

He always liked experimenting with the camera and discover beyond his knowledge. His real career started in 1994 and till date he worked with many agencies such as Rubicon, Euro RSCG, J. Walter Thomson. Venket Ram has also contracted with publishing houses such as; The Week, Rave, Inside Outside, Society and more. Moreover, he provided photography services for brands such as Airtel, Tata Indicom, Nescafe, Lifestyle, Club Mahindra, Bru, Taj Group of hotels, Color Plus, Suryan FM, Pepsi, Big FM, Coca-cola, TVS, Menswear, Margo soap and much more.
