Shivshankari Bhaskaran, popularly known as Mirchi Shivshankari, was born on December 25 in Chennai. She attended St. John’s English School and Junior College in Chennai and opted for the Science stream in class 12th. Shivshankari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer science from M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women in Chennai. Further, she did Finance Management, a one year course, from Loyola Institute of Business Administration. She completed her Master’s in Business Administration from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, through distant learning. Before venturing to Radio, Shivshankari did VJing for some time. In 2007, Shivshankari attended the audition for radio jockey in Radio Mirchi. Though not much aware of radio jockeying, she still qualified for the auditions and started her career as a radio jockey.  Her first on-air program was the night band show Kadhala Kadhala, in which she interacted with the listeners as Dr. Love. It is a show where the audience can share their love for their special ones. The show stood out among any other night shows, mainly because of Shivshankari’s magical voice and how she took forward the show. By the time she became a popular RJ in the radio circle. Following Kadhala Kadhala, she hosted the morning show Ladies Colony, an exclusive women show in Radio Mirchi.

Shivshankari’s way of greeting the listeners in the morning attracted a larger audience. Her other morning shows are Rewind Raagam, a nostalgic show about rewinding our memories, and Mengal Manathil, a show which centers on men and their life. Both the program won many hearts because of the way Shivshankari engaged the listeners. She returned to the night band show with The Late Night Show with Mirchi Shivshankari. RJ Shivshankari has been a dance fanatic since childhood, and also she is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. If not a radio jockey, Shivshankari would have become a dancer. Presently, she is a part of a dance academy where she explores all dance styles from freestyle, contemporary to Kathak.   For the work she has been doing for the past ten and more years, Shivshakari received the award for the best radio jockey in the Ananda Vikatan Nambikkai awards in 2017. Shivshankari never fears to voice out her opinion for the right and always stands for women’s equality. The job of an RJ is not easy as they have to take the entire show forward single-handedly. But even so, RJ Shivshankari stands out from the rest because of her personality, style of presenting the show, and, most importantly, her soothing voice.
