Sakthi T.K Krishnasamy was born on 11th March, 1913 in Tamil Nadu and passed away on 8th November, 1987 in Chennai, India. He was a very popular screenwriter and lyricist. He started his career in 1950’s and he was active in the industry till 1970’s.

Sakthi was a Tamil writer and his screenplay and stories for the films are outstanding. His stories used to be unique and worth watching. He has written the stories of Tamil Historical, Social and Mythological films. He was one of the very popular screenwriters in the Tamil Film Industry. His most popular writings are Karnan and Veerapandiya Kattabomman. Sakthi started his career as a Playwright and he took an initiative and started his Drama Company named Sakthi Nataka Sabha. He did his first play on the Nagapattinam Theater and slowly and gradually he started writing more and more plays with different concepts and became very popular. He has written the play named Bhayankari, this was a thriller play and he wrote another love story named Vidhi.

All his plays are amazing and the audience loved to watch his plays. He was the first one to get three different stage set up and after one scene used to get over the team used to shift on the other stage. Kaviyin Kanavu is his one of the very popular plays. There were many special trains used to run when his plays took place. Many artists of his plays became popular actors also. His first play named Veerapandiya Kattabomman and this got staged at all the places in Tamil Nadu. Everyone in Tamil Nadu watched it and loved the play very much. Veerapandiya Kattabomman also won many awards for the best music and acting in the Afro-Asian Film Festival which took place in Cairo in the year 1960. The dialogues of the film Veerapandiya Kattabomman are still in use as the scripts for auditions everywhere. People still respect his work a lot. He has also written the lyrics of many movies in 1960’s.

He used to follow Gandhi and his rules very much; therefore, he spent a lot of time in Mahatma Gandhi Library. There were only 20 books in the Mahatma Gandhi Library in the beginning, but later Krishnasamy filled it with 20,000 books. Some of his notable plays are Ambikapathi in the year 1957, Aalukkoru Veedu in the year 1960, Kungumam, Pandagitti and much more. Krishnasamy died because of illness, but people still remember him and respect him a lot.
