Kadhal Sukumar is an Indian film director and actor. He has mainly given his contribution and appeared in Tamil language cinemas. For a decade he used to work in movies as a comedian. He was best known for his performance in the movie Kaadhal in the year 2004 by Balaji Sakthivel. After working in the romantic film he decided to attempt a career as a movie director.

Sukumar is the son of a farmer from the Alanganallur district near Madurai, who had come to Chennai in the year 1997, seeking for a chance to star in Tamil cinemas. His primary on-screen presence was in the movie Sakthi in the year 1997, where he displayed the role of a dancer beside Vadivelu in a song, with numerous critics commenting about his likeness to the actor. Sukumar then first served as an actor in an unreleased film Kaadhal Jaathi by Kasthuri Raja. He then started working on a television program titled Oorvambu aired on Raj TV, which earned attention for him in the film fraternity and is work was seen by many famous personalities from the film industry. Sukumar got a breakthrough after starring in the character of Bharath’s buddy in Balaji Sakthivel's coming-of-age, romantic love story Kaadhal in the year 2004. The success of the film helped the actor to fix the film's name as a designation to his name. That same year, he acted in two movies featuring Kamal Haasan in the village drama movie Virumaandi and the other one was s comic satire Vasool Raja MBBS.

In 2008, Sukumar got a chance to play the leading character in a film named Saamipulla alongside Saranya Mohan and Karthika. Despite the movie based on a good concept and having a decent star cast the film failed to create a magic among the audience nor could it impress the critics and at the end the movie got shelved from the theatres with the very low box office collection.

After appearing in so many films he shifted his career and worked as a director in late 2012 movie within the production of Thirukkural, although the flick was later suspended after some schedules. His first release was Thiruttu VCD in the year 2015 starring him in an important role. The movie had a weak key release and did not do well commercially. Sukumar next did Summave Aaduvom in 2016, which focused on the street artists, starring Leema Babu Athlete Arun Balaji in the main roles. The movie opened to positive reviews and was very much appreciated by the critics. Many leading dailies had given a positive review of the film.
