Ravi Venkatraman is a Tamil film actor, who is mostly seen in character roles. He slightly resembles the popular actor Jaya Prakash. Ravi has a good cinema background. His father Venkatraman is the popular film editor in Malayalam cinema industry. He has worked as an editor for more than 500 films. Ravi has two brothers; one elder and one younger. He studied Philosophy in Vivekananda College in Chennai. His career started as an assistant director to the popular art director Sabu Cyril. His first movie as an actor is Poi Solla Porom. This movie identified him as a Police Inspector. After this movie, Ravi was searching for acting chance. Then, he was introduced to Samuthrakani and he selected Ravi for his film Nadodigal. He is nearing 40 Tamil films in his acting career.

Apart from that, Ravi has also acted in Telugu films too. As the police character suits his physique much, he has been called to that role, by all the directors, who gave him chance. Almost in 30 films, he has done as a Police Officer. Ravi feels very proud about it. Apart from the Police character, this growing character artist has acted in the films as the father of the heroines too. He is also discussing with the production people, to perform as the heroine’s father in two more films. Ravi is married and has a son, who is doing his ninth standard. Ravi’s one of the favorite Police roles is the one which he did in Kulla Nari Kootam with Vishnu Vishal and Remya Nambeesan. His hobby is listening to music. He is the fan of Ilayaraja, Vairamuthu and Manirathnam.

Ravi is very much interested in acting and he has no ideas to direct or to produce films in the future. He thanks all his supporters and his family members for supporting him in all his ups and downs.
