I have done guest appearances in the past, but this is the first time that I will do a full-fledged role," says Ayyappan, who was happy to learn the nuances of acting from the film's director Dayal Padmanabhan. "No. Ravi and Sai are popular for their acting, but I am better known as a director. I am passionate about directing and don't want to give it up. Having said that, I will act if I get good roles, like the one in Gharshane, which gave me the opportunity to work with Malashree, who acted in my directorial debut, Veeru," says Ayyappa. About Ayyappa’s acting skills, Dayal says, "Directors can be a good actor and Ayyappa has proved this. He has done a wonderful job in Gharshane." He was a wicket keeper and batsman for Telugu Warriors in Celebrity Cricket League from April 2010 – December 2012, about 3 years.
