Divya Padmini

Divya Padmini is also known as Divya Viswanath. She is an actress working in bilingual movies, Tamil and Malayalam. From Kattappana in Idukki district of Kerala, she started her acting journey way back in college. She is both a small screen as well as big screen actress.

Divya Padmini is a Tamil and Malayalam actress. She was born as Divya Padmini in Kattappana, Iduki District, to Vishwanath and Padmini Vishwanath. She was a Malayalai, but she is not very good in speaking the Malayalam language. She was married to a Mumbai Art Designer, Ratish in 2012. Aside from being a television actress, Divya also did some Malayalam and Tamil films, and also some ad films. She did an ad for Parthas Textile. She loves to read and travel, and completely different from the roles she was in. Divya is very modern, bold and smart.

Divya started acting when she was in college. She was chosen to play the main character in the tele-films that she was doing on her graduation at the NSS College in Changanacherry. The title of the tele-film is Anakha under the production of the theatre club in her school. Anakha was broadcasted on Asianet channel in 2006. Phantom director, Biju Varkey, noticed Divya and she was requested to appear as Indira, a village girl in a non-commercial film, Chandranilekkulla Vazhi.  Then in 2007, she was also part of the film, Indrajith.

She was debuted in the Tamil film, Puli Vesham after director P. Vasu spotted her in her recent film. That is the time when she was asked to change her name to Divya Padmini and use her mother’s maiden name. She started to be seen in few Tamil movies like the Tamil drama film, Ayyan in 2011 as Selvi and Vilaiyaada Vaa as Divya in 2012. She also played the role of Mamtha in the comedy film, Kasethan Kadavulada in 2011 and as Rita in the Malayalam comedy film, Husbands in Goa.

She was debuted as a television serial in Manapporutham, followed by Ammathottil and Sun TV’s Tharkappu Kalai Theeratha. She also appeared as Hema on Pillai Nila and was nominated for Best Jodi Award in Sun Kudumbam Awards in 2012. She got her fame on Asianet TV’s Sthreedhanam. She played the role of Divya who was married to Prashanth. But his mom was very cruel and she doesn’t like Divya. She suffered just to live with her husband. Most of Divya Padmini’s films were a flop, but she started to get noticed because of her performance in this serial. She also got the Best Actress Award in the Asianet Television Awards in 2013 and Most Popular Actress in 2014. She was also seen in the TV serial, Kayitham as Parvathy.
