C. Umamaheswara Rao is a screenplay writer, director, and producer in the Indian fil industry. He works majorly for Telugu Cinemas. He was born in Andhra Pradesh, India. The movie’s protagonist, Revathi is a young middle-class girl who finds an abandoned child and returns him to his father. The film shows social issues like Naxalism, human rights, feudalism, and bureaucracy. “Sreekaram” was also a big hit and won Nandi Award for Best Feature Film in 1996. Through “Sreekaram,” he has tried to empower women of the Nation to stand against the physical and mental abuse and live for their self-respect.The movie was the life story of a girl who was molested by her husband and she finally raises her voice against him and kills him at the end.

Umamaheswara Rao worked as a writer in “Ankuram,” “Sindhoora,” “Mounam,” “Sreekaram,” “Suryaputrulu” and “Avuna.” He has made many documentaries, one of them is Sthree. Sthree was his most popular documentary and has won APFDC Award for Best Documentary. He also made a telefilm “Hamsafar” in the Hindi language. He has worked on some 25 scripts. For some of them, he has the world audience in mind. He believes in imparting social messages through his scripts. He has raised many issues through this works most of them were related to the upliftment of women in the Indian society. He had been a famous human rights activist and believes that artists hold the responsibility to uphold the rights of people. He believes that children can use the potential of technology to the fullest and raises social issues that needs immediate attention.
