Chalapathi Rao was born on 8th May’1944 in Barripalem, Guntur District, and Andhra Paradesh. His father’s name is Maniyya and his mother’s name is Vijayamma. His son’s name is who is an actor and director. Chalapathi Rao has 2 daughters named Sridevi and Malini Devi.

Chalapathi Rao is a Telugu actor who is known for villainy and comedy roles. He has acted in various characters in around 600 films. He started his career with dramas. Later on after doing 100 plays, he entered into film industry by quitting his job.

He has acted with big actors like NTR, ANR, Krishna, Shoban Babu, etc. His first break came with the film Kathanayakudu with NTR in 1968. He played villain roles in all his films until Krishna Vamsi’s film Ninne Pelladutha wherein he played a soft father character. With this film his career took a flip and he got characters similar to the one in this film. Later on he became a producer and made some films like Kaliyuga Krishnudu, Pellante Nurella Panta, President Gari Alludu, Jaganatakam and Kadapareddamma.

He has the credit of acting with two Chief Ministers, NTR and Jayalalitha. He has finished 30 years of acting.

His hobbies include reading books, listening to music and playing with his grand children. Chalapathi Rao has acted in some TV serials also. He has acted in the serial Ame Katha for ETV and for Gemini TV. Additionally he has acted in 52 episode mega Telugu serial Maa Pelliki Randi.
