Madhumita is an Indian actress who was born on August 20, 1984, in Hyderabad, India. She had variously appeared in films in South Indian Industries, often in Tamil and Telugu films. When she started her acting career, she first used her birth name
Swapna Madhuri. By the year 2002, she first appeared in Telugu Film, “
Sandade Sandadi” performing a key supporting role. She continually played supporting roles in a couple of Telugu films like “Manmadhudu (2002)” along with
Akkineni Nagarjuna and
Sonali Bendre. She also portrayed in other movies with supporting roles such as “Ammailu Abbailu” in 2003 and “Puttintiki Ra Chelli” in 2004, with co- actors Arjun and Meena.
Furthermore, in the 2004 movie ”Puttintiki Ra Chelli,” she became a high commercial success, running for 275 consecutive days in theaters. Through these films, she got introduced to the Tamil Film Industry by R. Parthiban. In the year 2004, she changed her screen name to “
Madhumitha” based on her character in the film; wherein she acted as the lead female role. Though the film was not a major success, Madhumitha received quite a few offers from Tamil directors. She performed leading roles in several Tamil films like “Amudhey” in 2005, and “Englishkaran” in the same year, where she was recognized for her role performance in Englishkaran. Review by India glitz.com quoted, "Madhumitha dominates the film. After her debut venture Kudaikul Mazhai, she has got a good scope to act, and she has used the opportunity well."
By the year 2006, her next film release was “Naalai,” which, however, did not bring her any recognition, despite having moderate accomplishments. Madhumita became extensively remarked by the Tamil viewers and brought her winning awards for her performance in the 2007 Tamil Independent film “Aanivaer,” which was released in many Western Tamil diasporal regions. The film is all about the Sri Lankan Civil War, in which she played the role of a journalist. In 2008, she took part in the Tamil comedy film “Arai En 305-il Kadavul,” directed by Simbudevan, and with comedy actors Santhanam and
Ganja Karuppu. She next appeared in the movie “Yogi,” where she played the role of a young mother living in the Chennai slums, which was unfavorably praised, but made her win the nomination for Best Actress Award at the 3rd Vijay Awards.
Madhumitha got engaged with her longtime boyfriend, actor Shiva Balaji on 21 August 2008 in Hyderabad. And on the 1st of March 2009, they got married at Kalinga Function Place in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
Siva Balaji was her co-actor in her film Englishkaran. They have two sons, Dhanvin, and Gagan. After her marriage, she played supporting roles in Venkat Prabhu's Biriyani and the Telugu films Uu Kodathara? Ulikki Padathara?,
