Samruddhi Porey

Samruddhi Porey is a well recognized, admired and esteemed not only across Indian film Industry but also among common people as a persona with a cause. She worked as an advocate for 15 years, there she worked as a legal advisor for families and criminal court cases. During this period she helped socially deprived people and played her focus on contributing towards women empowerment. She has great accomplishment in her academics as well.

She did her B.Sc Micro, DMLT, LLB. Later, she switched her career line into Film Making and attended Mumbai University to complete her Diploma in the same field. In the midst of the busy life of being a wife, mother of two beautiful daughters, a prominent lawyer and well-applauded film maker, Samruddhi manages to play all her role with much poise. Samruddhi learned to eloquent her thoughts through writing, she began writing at her young age, this was the reason she could credit herself into penning film stories and scripts in her cinematic journey.

She has amazing writing skills which helped her to excel in her professional career. It was her engagement as a Legal advisor for her clients that inspired her into writing script and present them on screen in front of the public as an initiative towards bringing change in the society. She analyzed the stories from camera angle but she was not successful at first when she approached other industry people.

This marked as a beginning of going into film making. She started her own company- Samruoddhi Cine World. Crossing all the hurdles in her way she got herself behind the camera as a director of her debut film- Mala AaiVhaychay (I want to be a Mother). This film got her at the epitope of achievements in her field. She not only positioned herself into receiving two National awards but also be the first woman director to be awarded soon through her debut film.

The film was inspired from a real story from one of her cases she handled. It reflected the life of a surrogate mother in India and her relationship with the child. It was cheered by the audience world-wide. She won seven state awards, two national awards and other 37 International awards. It was also selected to be the closing film during the London International Film Awards. She also made a record by working for the film in nine categories.

After a huge success of her first film, she came up with another project. The film was focussed on the real life of a multi-faceted doctor, Dr.PrakshAmte. It brought out the legendary life contribution of Dr. Prakash, it gained a massive acclaim both nationally and Internationally. The film was set in the real locations of the tribal area. It was a relentless effort of this real life hero that brightened up the lives of poor and needy tribes along with the care for wild animals, it was an eye-opener for the society.

Her movie ‘Hemalkasa’ got nominated for the prestigious award- Oscars. Samruddhi has proved herself in every milestone that came in her way. She is a paragon of efficient work in each field she has stepped herself into. This keeps her motivated towards writing better contents with every script.
