Parthasarathy Nemani

Parthasarathy Nemani, also known as Parthu, is an Indian playback singer and music director working predominantly in the Tollywood industry. He was born on 24 September 1974 at Kakinada, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. His family is a traditional Telugu family with a rich classical musical background.

Being the son of Sri Raman Nemani and Smt Saroja Nemani and the nephew of music director Sri Nemani Surya Prakash, he has inherited the musical genes. Parthu has sung more than 100 movie songs and 2000 album songs in languages of Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada.

Given the Carnatic lineage, he has also composed music for many fusion, devotional albums. Parthasarathy’s enthusiasm and innate talent in for this art form had made him a dedicated student of Smt P. Lakshmi Kumari since he was just five years old and later he was put under the care of the veteran Sri Nethi Sreerama Sharma who is a renowned Carnatic Vocalist for eight years.

His early schooling was at Nagarjuna Convent and later joined the PR Government Boys High School. He got his college education at Ideal College in Kakinada. He then joined his UG degree program in 2005 at Sri Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad for B.Tech, Mechanical. Even though he studied engineering, his interest in music pulled him towards the competitions in his Universities and India.

He has participated in more than 200 contests in the Government of India’s CCRT (Centre for Cultural Resource and Training) Scholarship which ran for about eight years. His other achievements include receiving National Award in All India Radio (AIR) music competitions, 1992. He even won the First Prize in Inter-University Youth Festival in 1993 held at Mangalore.

In 1994, he won the First Prize at National level in Inter-University competitions held at Benares Hindu University, Varanasi and he was the winner of the Telugu reality show “Paaduthaa Theeyagaa,” the ETV show hosted by the renowned singer Sri S.P.Balasubramaniam. Parthasarathy’s debut as a playback singer was for the movie “Kalyana Praapthirasthu” in the year 1997 for the famous music director Sri Koti directed by Dasari Narayana Rao.

Leading audio companies including HMV, Magna Sound, Supreme, Adithya, and Tips recorded his private albums. Famous music Directors from Tamil and Telugu Industry like Ilayaraja, ManiSarma, M.S. Viswanathan, Keeravani, Koti, and Hamsalekha have approached him as their playback singer.

He has also worked as an associate music director to the popular Sri Mani Sarma for more than 50 films for four years. Parthu showcased his talent all over the world on five continents. He gives live performances with his orchestra in USA, Australia, Europe, Middle East, and Africa with veteran singers like S.P.B, S.P. Sailaja, Malathi, Suneetha, etc. He has performed in African countries like Botswana in 2009 & 2011 and Nigeria in 2012 which is a new feat for the Telugu industry.

His dream of opening a Digital recording Studio came true with the establishment of Keerthana Digital Recording Studio in 2001. His mentor S.P.B. inaugurated the studio. Parthasarathy’s debut as a music director was for the film Nandeeswarudu starring Jagapathibabu and Nandamuri Taraka Ratna. He has composed two songs for K.Viswanath’s film Swaraabishekam and several fusion albums. “The Lotus Feet” album was released in Switzerland in 2010.

In 2009, Parthu established the “Lotus Foundation,” a non-profit organization to support educational needs of economically backward brilliant students. It has been helping students of varying backgrounds for their graduation which has led to their employment in MNCs.
