Mustafa Qureshi is a veteran actor who works in the Pakistani film and TV industry. He has worked in different film industries like Punjabi, Sindhi, and Urdu, and has done a total of more than 600 films in his long career. However, it is for his role of the antagonist, Noori Natt, in the evergreen Pakistani Punjabi movie Maula Jatt, he is best-known for.

Qureshi was born on 11 May 1938, in Hyderabad, Sindh, to an educated Sindhi family. He completed his primary education in Hyderabad, and his masters in Islamic History from Sindh University. He possesses great knowledge of both modern and religious studies. In his college, he was influenced by knowledgeable scholars like Imdad Ali Imam, Ali Kazi and Pir Ali Muhammad Rashdi. After graduating from college, he started his career as a radio jockey in Radio Pakistan and hosted the show called Ahsan Jo Pakistan.

His current profession as an actor happened to him by accident. Once, Qureshi went to see the shooting of the film ‘Aag Ka Darya.’ He was spotted by one of the professionals and was asked to play the role of the antagonist in an upcoming film. Qureshi was initially skeptical of whether he would be able to pull it off and couldn’t imagine himself as an actor, but later got convinced and he portrayed the role marvelously. The movie in which he debuted was ‘Laakhon Mein Ek,’ and it became a box-office hit. The success of the movie gained him recognition, and more movie offers came flying. After his highly appreciated role as Noori Natt, he went on to do similar roles for years. His notable works include ‘Soha Jora,’ ‘Hitlar,’ ‘Chief Sahib,’ ‘Mummy,’ ‘Hong Kong Ke Sholay,’ ‘Angaray,’ etc.

Qureshi is associated with politics as well. He was part of the Pakistan People’s Party but later due to major dissensions, he left the party and joined Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in 2018. He has won several awards in his career. He won Nigar Awards thrice, first time as the Best Supporting Actor for his performance in ‘Lal Aandhi,’ then as the Best Actor for the 1981 film ‘Sher Khan,’ the third time in the Best Actor category for his performance in ‘Rustam Tey Khan.’ In 1988, he was awarded the prestigious ‘Presidential Pride of Performance’. Qureshi is married to Rubeena, who is a Sindhi folk singer and has a son Aamir Qureshi, who is an actor-musician.
