She is not just into movies and dance, but is also a politician, a social activist and a loving mother. She is an epitome for all the ladies. This true beauty had given a great contribution in Indian Cinema and is rightfully called ‘Dream girl’. The following is the list of her some power packed movies.

1. Tum Haseen Mai Jawan (1970)

Here Hema played the role of an angel. She ran away with her sister's baby because it's life was in danger. Later, a long lost lover of Sunil feels jealous of Anuradha (played by Hema) and tells Sunil that she is the mother of a child. The truth took long to come out, but when it did, the result was happy. Here, Hema was eye pleasing and very polite.

2. Parya Dhan (1971)

Here, the beautiful lady looked fresh like the valley of Kullu-Manali. The glow on her face was worth watching. Her bubbly role of Rajjo earned her appreciations. Rajjo was a small village girl, belonging to a respectable family. When she became eligiable, her family arranged her marriage with a nice guy, with whom she eventually fell in love. Her father was a village sarpanch. But later she realizes her father had a dark history. The role here was played with absolute perfection.

3. Lal Pathar (1971)

Here Hema played an incredibly strong role in the movie. In the plot, Gyan Shankar Rai, belonged to a royal, wealthy family. He swears to have no relation with women and would never touch alcohol. He was going pretty well before he went on a hunt where he rescued a girl. The girl defined beauty. The girl was safely returned to her parents, but he later gets to know that the family members do not treat her well. So, he buys her and keeps her to himself. With time he falls for her, loves her, but refused to marry her. As time passes, he realizes that he does not love Madhuri, but it was mere attraction. So, Madhuri remains the mistress, but Rajkumar gets married to a girl named Sumita. Madhuri had every hold on Rajkumar’s life, still envied what Sumita had, the label of a wife. Hema Malini took all the spotlights on her for her shrewd role.

On hearing this movie’s name, we automatically imagine Hema Malini. She had a double role to play and enacted both contrasting roles so well that the critics couldn’t say a word against her. Hema was paired with Dharmendra and they both did a splendid job. The two roles were totally opposite. Seeta being shy and silent and Geeta was bubbly and jolly.

5. Raja Jani (1972)

Here, the dream girl plays the role of a street dancer, Shanno. The plot revolves around a long lost granddaughter of Ranima and how she desperately wanted her back. Her right-hand recruits Raja (played by Dharmendra). Shanno was found to be apt and gets involved in the drama. She fell for Raja but realized he was scared of relationships. The story is how she loved Ranima and made Raja trust love again. She played a fabulous role and wowed the audience.

6. Babul Ki Galiyan ( 1972)

Here Hema fantastically played the role of a student, Shaarda. She had an elder sister, who ran away with her lover Dinesh, but he ditched her and almost destroyed her life. The guy even tried to kill her. Shaarda studied in a college, and she had a clash with a rich brat named Sudhir. The plot revolves around how Shaarda rescues and saves her older sister’s life.

7. Jugnu ( 1973)

He falls for Seema (played by Hema). Hema acted like a perfectionist. She showed some skills we didn’t see earlier.

8. Sholay (1975)

The evergreen Bollywood movie. The character of Basanti was put to life by Hema Malini. Basanti, a bubbly tangewali girl. She has a humourous role to play, but also enacts the seriousness when required. Veeru (played by Dharmendra) falls for her, and she gets feelings for him too, but she shows great attitude. This role made Hema Malini a superstar, and the movie is much appreciated even today.

9. Jaaneman (1976)

Here, again, the talented lady had to play a double role of twins Santo and Banto. Santo and Ronnie fall for each other. Meanwhile, Banto had become a criminal and a prostitute who was now called Ramkali. Banto became this because of a bad past and regrets it. In the end, Banto takes revengebut gets killed in the process, and Santo and Ronnie start their new lives. Hema again proved that she is a perfectionist. Her transition from Santo the religious girl to Banto the shrewd girl is worth watching.

Finally came the movie Dream Girl, where Hema Malini got her name. The level of difficulty was so high that she had to perform five different roles in just one movie. She here took charge and enacted the role of female Robin Hood. Sapna (played by Hema) robs the rich and helps the orphans. One fine day she deceived a rich bachelor and faked being a princess. Anupam finds her to be his dream girl, the girl he painted. Soon her past comes as a nightmare and haunts her. Here Hema did a splendid job, and everybody appreciated her role. And this is how she became the Dream Girl of Bollywood.
