Music act as an integral part of our lives and for some people, it is in fact their livelihood. Bollywood movies have continuously been producing beauties of musical symbolism which are absolutely poetical in motion and in rhythm. However, some songs fail to receive the much needed attention from viewers and music buffs that they deserve, mainly because of poor promotional tactics or maybe their inability to make an impact. But these songs deserve much more time as is given to them, to prove their ability to mesmerize the listener. Here are some underrated songs which have failed to make a mark on our playlists:
The movie “Lootera” itself being an adaptation of the story “The Last Leaf” written by O. Henry had already made an impact on the audience but this song with part-Bengali lyrics failed to do so, only because of the communication gap between the lyricist and the audience, but undoubtedly is a delight to listen to!
Another song which contained Rajasthani and Haryanvi lyrics and eventually failed to make an impact despite its catchy tune and amazing dance moves in the video. It could have easily become a night - club hit!
While the film itself tanked at the box office because of its weak storyline, the campfire song in the movie has managed to creep its way slightly out of the oblivion but still hasn’t got the limelight it deserved.
While the film’s peppy numbers like “ Offo “ and “ Iski Uski “ hogged the limelight, Chandaniya was pushed to the side lines and slowly forgotten as being the song where the two characters separate, leading to the climax.
This soulful song from the otherwise violent and tough movie concerning an Anti-Terrorist Squad was gradually neglected and did not receive as much love & attention from the audience as the counterpart “Tamanna “did.
Who would remember the chirpy Geet’s struggle in the movie complemented so well by this song when “ Mauja hi mauja “ was the only one peddled out to the masses.
While people were head banging to “ Sadda Haq >> Read More... “ and couples dedicating “ Tum Ho “ to each other, this song about soaring away in ambition and dreams managed to remain only a background score in the movie.
The movie starring Kamal Hassan and Tabu was a great comic relief and still is but what most of us have missed is the song which plays at the background when the flashback of the love story of the two central characters is showcased. While the actors in the movie like the iconic Amrish Puri Amrish Lal Puri was born on 22nd June, 1932 in Pun >> Read More... , Paresh Rawal The Padma Shri award winner who shot to fame with >> Read More... , Om puri, Kamal Hassan and Tabu were widely praised for their performance, the songs perhaps just lost their credit in the storyline.
The Nooran sisters with “Patakha Guddi” made quite an impact but this masterpiece from A.R Rahman did not get much attention from the audience.
While Ram Leela was praised with many awards in almost every award show known, this song which acts as the background score towards the climax of the movie, sadly lost all of its charm. Maybe the audience left before this masterpiece was being played or it just could not stand out enough to come into the limelight amongst all the “Nagaade” and “Dhol”. I would strongly urge you to listen to these songs and recommend them to one and other because they definitely don’t deserve to be where they are at present.
