Some are born with a silver spoon. Concerning the film industry, an actor’s child is expected to take the legacy forward by becoming an actor. Few do not succeed to match the aura of their superstar parents, and the family name also does not help them reach the same heights. Here is a list of those star kids who did not have a successful career in the film industry.

1. Uday Chopra

Let’s start with the Yash Raj banners. It’s the production that has blessed so many careers. Owner Yash Chopra had been making movies since 1959 and had seen many careers bloom. His elder son Aditya Chopra is a successful director too, but we don’t know what went wrong in launching the younger one. He started from ‘Mohobbatein’ in 2004 and was only limited to ‘ Dhoom’ series. In spite of a good physique and a legendary family name, this man failed at his career.

2. Shamita Shetty

Though she is not a star kid, her sister Shilpa Shetty had created enough limelight around to call Shamita a member of a Star family. She starred opposite Uday Chopra in Mohobbatein and turned out to be another failure. There is no single role for which the audience can remember her other than the fact that she resembles her sister a lot. So she decided to quit acting in 2011.

3. Rinke Khanna

Does anybody know who this lady is? She is the daughter of the veteran actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. Twinkle Khanna is her elder sister. She started her career in 1999, and after struggling for four to five years, she married a businessman and settled in the US. So, we know she is one flop actor in the family of superstars if we also count her brother-in-law, Akshay Kumar.

4. Tusshar Kapoor

It’s a little surprising to know that an actor who has done over 30 movies is known only for one movie, ‘ Golmaal’ series. Yes, we are talking about Tusshar Kapoor who is the son of yester star ‘Jitendra’ & brother of Ekta Kapoor. He debuted in 2001 with Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai, and unfortunately was never recognized for his work henceforth.

5. Fardeen Khan

He is the son of Feroz Khan. He debuted in 1998 in Prem Agan, and won the Filmfare best debut award. Thereafter, he has been a part of hit movies such as ‘Jungle’, No Entry, Heyy Babyy, but his role was never appreciated. After his last flop Dulha Mil Gaya in 2010, he quit the film industry & is a happily married man now. He was also accused of carrying cocaine in 2001 but was not found guilty.

6. Zayed Khan

Here comes another one from the same Khan Family, Zayed Khan, who is Sanjay Khan ’s son & Fardeen’s cousin. Although he did a film making course, he shifted to acting with his debut Chura Liya Hai Tumne in 2003. He was famous for his style & personality, but the industry never accepted him as an actor. He mostly did supporting roles, & in spite of struggling for 13 years, he hasn’t tasted success.

7. Imran Khan

He had already become famous before he became a part of the industry because of his Mr. Perfectionist Mamu, Aamir Khan. He debuted in 2008 with Mamu’s home production, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na & gained instant popularity. He emerged more like a chocolate hero, & after that did a couple of hit movies. Gradually his fame started declining, which unfortunately got him a place on our countdown.

8. Neil Nitin Mukesh

Singing runs in his blood. He is the grandson of legendry Mukesh & son of Nitin Mukesh, but he chose to go for acting. He debuted with Johny Gaddar (2007) in a negative role which got him positive critic’s reviews. The following year he did three movies but wasn’t appreciated enough. We see him every year in a new movie but he never gets a prominent role. We hope he does not regret his career choices.

9. Tanishaa Mukerji

She comes from a family that has gifted loads of female talent to the industry. She is the daughter of yester star ‘ Tanuja’, sister of veteran actress Kajol Devgan & gorgeous Rani Mukerji ’s cousin. She debuted in 2003 with ‘Sssshhh’ which was a commercial as well as a critical flop. Her career graph has been low & with a number of unsuccessful attempts, she quit acting in 2011, although we saw her in a couple of reality shows.

10. Sohail Khan

He belongs to the famous Khandaan & is the youngest of the three brothers. His father, Salim Khan, is a popular screenwriter, & we do not need to introduce his superstar brother Salman Khan. He started as a film producer & director in 1997, & after directing both his brothers in Hello Brother (1999) he made his acting debut in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya in 2002 & unfortunately could never make his identity in the industry.

11. Arbaaz Khan

Next is the elder brother on our countdown, Arbaaz Khan. He is the husband of the actress Malaika Arora Khan. He debuted in 1996 with ‘Daraar’ & won the Filmfare award for the best negative role. He has appeared in many regional language movies, all of which were flops & gradually realized that acting was not his cup of tea, so he hopped to being a producer & director.

12. Esha Deol

It would not be wrong to say that Esha Deol is the only flop actor in the family full of talent. She is the daughter of superstars ‘ Dharmendra’ & Hema Malini, half-sister of Sunny Deol & Bobby Deol. She decided to take the legacy forward & become a second generation actress, thus, debuting in 2002 with Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche, which got her the Filmfare Award for the Best Debut. Thereafter, she experienced a constant fall in her career graph. So, now she is happily married to businessman Bharat Takhtani.

13. Soha Ali Khan

She is the product of cricket & acting, both of which are worshiped in India. Her older brother Saif Ali Khan is a Bollywood superstar. She debuted with Dil Mange More in 2004, after which she appeared in a few English & Bengali movies. She has never been appreciated much for her acting and had been more in the limelight for her alleged affairs with actors, but she settled down with actor Kunal Khemu in 2015 & is happily continuing her career.

14. Mahaakshay Chakraborty

Does anybody know who Mahaakshay is? Let’s enlighten you. He is the son of Grand master Mithun Chakraborty & Yogita Bali. He started his career with ‘ Jimmy’ in 2008, for which he won the Filmfare best debut award & his dancing skills were appreciated. He has done only a handful of movies & becomes a prominent contender to be on our list.

15. Prateik Babbar

He is the son of Raj Babbar & Smita Patil, but could not inherit the negative actor image from his father. Thus he started as a production assistant & was cast in advertisements. He then made his acting debut with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na in 2008 for which he got critical acclaims. We did not see him for the next three years & then suddenly he appeared in four movies in 2011, none of which were a commercial hit.

16. Sikandar Kher

He is the son of veteran actors, Anupam Kher & Kirron Kher. He started his career with Woodstock Villa in 2008, which was a commercial flop. He attended acting workshops for six months before joining the industry. He got his identity after his role in the movie ‘ Players’, although he could not match up to his parent’s aura. He is currently working on the second season of ‘24’ in a negative role.

17. Riya Sen

She comes from a family of actors, Suchitra Sen (grandmother), Moon Moon Sen (mother) & sister, Raima Sen. She appeared as a child artist in 1991 in ‘Vishkanya’. She made her adult debut in ‘ Style’ in 2001 which was a commercial hit. Post her MMS scandal she lost her hold in the industry & soon became a fading star.

18. Adhyayan Suman

He is the son of actor Shekhar Suman, who wasn’t a hit star but was a known personality in the industry. But Adhyayan is no match to his dad. He is only known for his role in ‘Raaz 2’ & his short-lived affair with Kangana Ranaut. His debut, ‘Haal-E-Dil’ in 2009 was a flop & his career finished before it could take off properly.

19. Arya Babbar

He is the son of Raj Babbar & Nadira Babbar, Prateik Babbar being his half-brother. He began his career with Ab Ke Baras in 2002 & even after doing a number of niche roles in Bollywood he shifted to doing Punjabi movies where his career went well. He recently appeared in the eighth season of Bigg Boss.

20. Rajiv Kapoor

To end the countdown we chose an actor from the previous generation, Rajiv Kapoor who is the son of legendary Raj Kapoor & grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor. He belongs to the third generation of the prestigious Kapoor family & is the youngest of the three brothers. He was mostly seen in Kapoor banners’ movies & is famous for his role in Ram Teri Ganga Maili. After a flop acting career, he became a producer & director.
