of Fukrey fame was very grateful to portray the role of the former cricketer, Navjot Singh Sindu in the upcoming biographical sports film, Azhar.
Manjot Singh became popular for his performance in Fukrey, Student of the Year and ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye’, where he won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

, a former skipper in India. Manjot stated, “I am doing the film... I am going to play the role of "Navjot Singh Sidhu". It is a big role I am excited, nervous.”
At first, Manjot was surprised when he got the offer and even asked the makers of Azhar if they are sure on casting him in the film. He auditioned for the role and he was luckily selected. He is also eager to meet Sidhu so he can understand and know his movements to be able to do his role better. Manjot attended some workshops and watched Sidhu’s videos and read anything about him as a preparation for his portrayal in Azhar.
Azhar is slated to hit the screens in May 2016.
