It’s back to back biopics for Dhanush!
At the Cannes Film Festival, the announcement of the project Kalam took place. Titled Kalam – The Missile Man of India, the movie is based on Wings of Fire, the autobiography of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, India’s 11th President who administered the nation from 2002 to 2007. This will be Dhanush’s second consecutive biopic after Ilaiyaraja, which is based on the iconic composer of the same name.
The movie will be jointly bankrolled by Abhishek Agrawal [who had previously produced blockbusters like Karthikeya 2, The Kashmir Files, Goodachari etc], and Bhushan Kumar from the famous T-Series. Dhanush will be playing the titular role of President Kalam.
The only point of concern for some is that Om Raut is directing this project. While he directed huge commercial successes like Lokmanya and Tanhaji in the past, his last venture Adipurush has raised questions on his ability as a filmmaker. However, unlike Manoj Muntashir, Saiwyn Quadras will be writing the screenplay of this movie.
In case you aren’t aware, Saiwyn Quadras is the same writer who wrote though provoking movies like Mary Kom, Neerja, Parmanu, and Maidaan. With the lone exception of Maidaan, none of the movies failed at the box office commercially.
