Madurai’s grandeur festival, Chithirai Thiruvizha has been going for the past one week with the spiritual mood of the Maduraites. Right from the celestial wedding of Meenakshi Sundareshwarar, the city is enjoying their summer with their kith and kin. Now, they are gearing up to welcome Azhagar, the brother of Goddess Meenakshi. Meenakshi Amman Thirukalayanam and the Azhagar function had been held in different months, before centuries. It was the King Thirumalai Naicker, who combined these two festivals and made the Saivas and Vaishnava's united. Tomorrow, the 10th May 2917, the Kallazhagar will cross the river to visit his sister Meenakshi, who is residing on the other side of the river bank. To worship Kallazhagar, lakhs of people mount at the bank of Vaigai River. 18 medical teams had been kept alert. Each team has one doctor, 2 nurses and 2 medical staff. All the teams are provided with the life-saving equipment. Ambulance vehicles are also arranged with enough facilities. People are in the festive mood. They watched the marriage of Queen Meenakshi and are waiting to see her brother Kallazhagar, the avatar of Lord Vishnu!
