The Karnataka government has planned to build Mekedatu dam across the river Cauvery and submitted the Pre-feasibility report (PFR) to the central government and the government cleared the report and passed it on to the next stage. They had asked the Karnataka government to submit a detailed project report. Karnataka claims that by Mekedatu dam could balance the drinking water needs and the water reserve. They also say that it will not affect Tamilnadu. When asked about the RBI governor Urjit Patel’s resignation, he stated that without knowing the truth behind his resignation, he couldn’t comment on it.
