Plot

The movie starts with an American sales representative, Alan, going through hardships in life and deciding to recover his losses by selling an IT contract to a sumptuous merchant in Saudi Arabia. Along with financial instability, he is also going through emotional turmoil due to a messy divorce and is struggling with looking after his daughter.

Clay meets Yusuf, a cab driver, and develops a friendly and deep connection with him. Due to fated circumstances, Clay is repeatedly unable to meet Karim. During the course, he meets Zahra, his medical caregiver, and falls in love with her. The movie then shows that, despite being unable to crack the deal, he discovers much about himself on this journey.

Star Performances

Hanks gave his usual excellent performance. He has proven himself to be the most suitable for the role of Clay. The film has a fine set of supporting actors who depict their story in an elusive way. Omar, as Yousuf, has done incredible justice to his role. His chemistry with Hanks is exceptionally creative and warming. Sarita Choudhary as Zahra has a powerful impact on screen, along with gorgeous chemistry with Hanks. Sidse, David, and Megan have also given outstanding performances in their respective roles. All the characters in the movie were aptly selected and added much more value to the storyline.

Analysis

The movie has an excellent romantic comedy storyline infused with bittersweet instances. It is both humorous and sad at the same time. Though adapted from the original novel, The movie still fails to completely do justice to the story, as it feels carried away and misled from the origin. The movie has a thoughtful theme with exceptional actors. But the film also gives the underwhelming feeling that the potential of the fantastic star cast could have been used more wisely. There could be more dynamics added to Clay’s role to add to the depth of the theme. The movie could have shown more instances to explain the connection between characters.

What's There?

• The film has an amazing storyline and theme that connects the audience to the lead character.

•There is exceptional acting and screenplay that keeps you gripped even when the story gets loose.

•The movie is a perfect blend of romance, humor, and culture-driven themes.

•The inspirational theme was displayed subtly with apt dialogue and framework.

What's not there?

•The movie becomes disenchanting at times because of the lack of depth in the characters.

•The movie may disappoint the audience who has read the novel, as the novel was amazingly detailed and gripping, but the movie fails to connect in some sequences.

Verdict

The movie has an exceptional storyline and a gorgeous star cast. The actors have fantastic chemistry and go beautifully with each other. The story may feel drowsy because of a lack of character development at times, but it will still prove to be a good watch, at least for once. The film is undoubtedly worth a watch.
