Plot:
This movie is a sequel to the already two superbly acclaimed franchise of Harold and Kumar. A very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas caters to an array of an adult audience and gives them a different, comic and hilarious way of celebrating their season of Christmas. The only way that best describes this movie is that it’s a stoner comedy.
The start of the arbitrariness of the scenarios is when Harold’s father in-law’s prized possession, his Christmas tree goes up in smoke. They have to start an errand to get a new Christmas tree for this ruffian father-in-law. In this quest of theirs’, they encounter situations creating a scope for raunchy humor. As much as the other two films before this sequel were brilliantly scripted and made us roll on the floor laughing, this movie is nothing but an amalgamation of various similar movies we’ve already seen before.
Therefore, there isn’t any element in the movie that may seem new to us and would make us laugh hard. This sequel can be called something that might work for the audience owing to the goodwill of the franchise. Apart from that, there seems no other reason that this movie shall work beyond an average level. The only comic element in the movie seems to be Neil Pattrick Harris with his jokes on confused sexualities.
But the more disappointing thing out of all is when even he is not able to bring more than a smirk on our faces. This movie tries to do something out of the box by putting an element of 3D into a mainstream comedy film. The idea of a slapstick comedy presented in 3D experiments only by throwing various things at the audiences. This is the only way this three-dimensional approach has been used.
Verdict:
A very Harold and Kumar can be an average way to enjoy the pre-holiday season. Coming out of the theaters. However, you wouldn’t want any more sequels to it.
