Robert Miller has just turned 60, and he is running a pretty risky business. His daughter Brooke is his associate in the business. He desires to transfer the authority of the business to a huge bank.

He manipulates accounts to hush up a massive financial loss. He has to rush it up before anybody smells the rat. There is a sudden twist in the movie as Robert Miller is involved in car crash, and another occupant in the car gets killed. Robert sustains injuries and flees the scene. He wants to hush up things before anybody gets to know his criminal manipulation of accounts.

The movie scenes unfold such that the audiences are pinned to their seat. Jimmy Grant, a man with murky side to him, helps Robert into his bed. Robert’s wife senses something amiss. Brooke is worried as she would also be arrested in the case. There is an unexpected twist in the movie as Robert’s family turns against him. His wife threatens to reveal his involvement in the accident and subsequent injuries.

She plays the stake with him and says that everything will be okay if he bequeaths his property to her. Richard Gere is a fine actor and is very good at playing an immoral character. None other than him could do the role except one or two actors. The movie is an unexceptional one with an exceptional actor. In the climax, Robert is seen on the stage with wife and daughter.

But, all their show of love for him is put up. Robert senses that he has lost his dignity among his family. As Robert is about to make an address, the screen goes blank leaving the audience to guess what he had decided. But the character of Roth seems to be overplayed. A British accent cannot do away with every other flaw. Roth, who does a police officer, seems to have assumed that he is in a mega venture. The movie could have impressed more if the melodrama stuff was missing. But the movie deserves repeat audiences across the world.
