directed the movie. The movie has actors as Rachel Wood, Scott Speedman, and three other actors. The movie draws inspiration from German movie Barfuss that hit the screens in 2005. The movie was screened in Film Festival and saw a limited theatrical release. The movie takes a course that is easily predictable. But, the movie is full of luster and the different story gives freshness to the movie.
Midway through the trip, the couple feels they are not the right pair. That is the time when they realize that they are in love. But, the love is not forced on anybody. Speedman plays the always mistaken person in the movie. Rachel Woods plays an innocent role in the movie. The movie may be a stereotyped romantic comedy, but it is an entertainer that makes the movie sweet. The pair Rachel Wood and Scott Speedman makes it a jolly trip for audiences.
The movie director is ignorant about mental problems and the people who are afflicted with mental illness. Instead, he highlights romance that blossoms on a journey that is far from reality. In spite of drawing inspiration from a German movie, ‘Barefoot’ has the European ingredients in it and is palatable to American cinemagoers. There are multiple flaws in the storyline. But, the movie makes you feel that the worst of tragedies are trivial.
The movie Barefoot has such a title because the character Daisy does not wear slippers even. J. K. Simmons portrays a psychologist who mends her ways. But, his role does not befit the actor in him. There is a shade of offensiveness in the portrayal of mental illness, and even the mentally ill. The movie survives for the good cast in it. It is best not to give a second thought to the movie after watching it.
