Disney Pixar’s Coco is an animated children’s fantasy film which is inspired by and based on the Celebration of ‘Dia De Los Muertos’ (Day of the Dead) traditionally rooted in Mexican Culture. Plot

The Film is based in the small town of Santa Cecilia in Mexico where the film’s little protagonist, Miguel, lives with his family who specialise in the shoemaking business. Miguel however, has always been inclined towards music and wants to be a great musician like his musical hero- Ernesto de la Cruz. Miguel’s Family is strictly against playing any music in the house let alone anyone pursuing it. Disheartened by the opposition he faces from his loved ones, Miguel discovers that his ancestors had a musical past. A loose end that makes him curious about Mama Coco’s (his great grandmother’s) Papa. After finding a possible connection with Ernesto de la Cruz, Miguel starts believing that he is perhaps related to the musical legend and runs away to participate in his first ever Music Competition. However, Miguel unaware of what's to come, accidentally crosses over to the land of the dead on the occasion of Dia De Los Muertos. Will Miguel Ever discover the truth behind his family’s hate for music? Will Miguel ever find out who was Mama Coco’s Musician Father? Is Miguel related to his idol Ernesto De La Cruz? Sit back and enjoy as Miguel finds out about his family’s past and his future on this emotional rollercoaster!

Star Performance

Anthony Gonzalez (playing Miguel) certainly puts on a star performance as a child artist. The complete package of singing and dancing along with the intense delivery of emotions is truly noteworthy. Alanna Ubach as (Mama Imelda) and Gael García Bernal as (Héctor) set the tone and truly justify both sides and their way of looking out for their family throughout the film. The All-Latino Cast worked their magic and brewed a respectable tribute to Mexican Culture acclaimed worldwide.

Analysis

A Film with Music and Family at its core would not be relatable without a warm, comforting, cosy sound score which is exactly what Michael Giacchino Michael Giacchino is a music composer from America >> Read More... This Mexican Story is a treat to the eyes with its vibrant colours.
