We tend to have a high opinion of Hollywood movies. At one point, we felt that whatever they make sells. But nowadays we are also getting used to the routine type of movies that they produce. And this enlightenment has dawned in the wake of good films in our place too; we get to understand that Hollywood films also compromise on quality sometimes……

Plot

Will Ferrell John William Ferrell was born on July 16th 1967. >> Read More... wants to be the best stepfather he can to his stepchildren. He works as a radio executive. And Mark Wahlberg One of the multi-awarded youngest and finest star; >> Read More... , the biological father, enters the scene, much to the embarrassment of Ferrell. Ferrell is visibly disturbed by the entry of his wife’s ex-husband. How he faces all the embarrassments form the rest of the story.

Star Performances

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg had worked together in The 2010 movie Other Guys before. But in this movie, however, talented actors they are, their talent is wasted.

Analysis

Daddy’s Home…this movie has the perfect plot to make an outright comedy where you can laugh out loud. However, the movie starts off on a promising note but stumbles midway.
The movie tries to convey some messages on fatherhood and marriage, but it could have worked better if the movie had been dealt with subtlety.

What’s there?

You can laugh out loud in some scenes. But this doesn’t mean that the comedy is good.
The climax is quite heartening.
There are a couple of interesting dialogues in the movie.

What’s not there?

The comedy element in the movie could have been well conceived so that it strikes the right chord with the audience.
You would have got bored watching such family dramas interspersed with comedy umpteen times.
The plot of the film is wafer thin.
You don’t tend to have a connect with the characters of the movie.

Verdict

Comedy is the most difficult part of a film. And care should be taken that it doesn’t cross the line of vulgarity. And going with the content mentioned above it’s your call to watch this movie.
