Plot

The film follows Paul Kersey, played by Bruce Willis, a surgeon who is searching for the criminals who are responsible for his wife’s murder and putting his daughter in a coma. “Death Wish” is a vigilante film wherein Paul Kersey takes it upon himself to obtain justice for his wife and daughter. Star Performance

Bruce Willis is an expert in the action genre and gives a stellar performance in this film. Vincent D’Onofrio gives a realistic performance as Paul’s younger brother Frank, who lends his brother a shoulder to cry on in his darkest days.

Analysis

The film is a well-executed vigilante film that will be liked by action movie enthusiasts. Director Eli Roth, known for violence in his films delivers on that promise to some extent, as there is a limit to the action scenes a protagonist with no history in combat or violence can do.

Mindless violence and deaths in the name of revenge are displayed. So, the film might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Verdict

The Eli Roth thriller is perfect for fans of action, violence, and revenge genres. The actors performed very well. The development of a commoner into a killer is also somewhat well-paced, as we even see him getting hurt from firing a gun. The film also acknowledges that after a while, the killings are not just for revenge but that the protagonist takes it up as his new purpose of life. The film is a must-watch for Bruce Willis fans and action, thriller film enthusiasts.
