Plot

The first half of the movie starts in late 1989 when Jack (J. D. Pardo) dies in a mishap that happened in a short race, and his sons Jacob (John Cena) and Dominic (Vin Diesel) witness it. Later on, Dominic recalls his brother's fault behind the death of their father, leading Jacob to leave the town. The film then cuts to 30 years later, when Dominic is shown as a family man who agrees to captivate Cipher, a cyberterrorist, along with Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Parker (Chris "Ludacris" Bridges), as he learns that Jacob is involved in this. The movie then indulges into betrayal and deception between two brothers. The film then sets in engrossing action when the lead hero sets off on a mission with his old acquaintances and a surprising new foe. There is a captivating, typical twist to the story. What is the twist? Can Dominic be successful in his treacherous mission? The film brilliantly captures the turmoil of the hero with immense action and on-point drama.

Star Performances

Vin Diesel has given a terrific performance as the lead, both in drama and action. Michelle Rodriguez, as Letty Ortiz, has done a fabulous job of portraying her role. John Cena as Jacob fits perfectly and provides the apt brawl to the act. Gibson and Emmanuel fit perfectly in supporting Dominic in his ultimate mission. Jordana as Mia has done absolute justice to her role and is fabulous. Rooker and Han look good on screen and fit best into their supporting roles. All actors show passionate chemistry that makes the storyline smooth.

Analysis

The film undeniably has lots of dynamic cars and action, but it majorly feels underwhelming to its viewers who have watched the prequels of the movie. The movie has a few absurd turns but can be a good one-time watch as it is entertaining enough. The Montequinto section of the movie can be a little disappointing in terms of graphics and actions, as they look a little out of place. The climax of the movie has an extended truck chase that feels longer than expected and may leave the audience in dismay. The movie, at times, feels like a long-lost soap opera where the dead ones turn out to be alive, and the bad ones turn out to be righteous.

What's there?

There is a lot of terrific action and vibrant VFX that elevate the effect of the scenes. The
vibrant screenplay by the actors makes the audience invested in a thin plot.
Heroic dynamics for the lead actors make them look grand and appeal to the audience.
Sly and humorous dialogue delivery enhances the overall effect of the film.

What's not there?

The film lacks an engaging storyline that may bore the audience.
In the end, there are unnecessarily extended climax sequences that may make the film lose interest.
The graphics may look uncanny in a few scenes, which makes the appearance of the frame unrealistic.

Verdict

The film, indeed, is filled with thrilling action sequences and worthwhile acting, but it can discontent the section of the audience that would be expecting a more mature storyline. The VFX and the action editing may resent it a bit because of its unrealistic appeal at times. But apart from its visual appeal, the movie is still a worthy watch because of its actors and prequel history. You can indeed stream it on OTT platforms and movie theaters for good leisure.
